Programs and Services

Thanks for visiting us.

The Mark Sandman Music Project  is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing children and music together to foster recreational, educational, and artistic goals. The Project’s after-school, evening and weekend programs will provide children with opportunities to participate in music ensembles, learn song and lyric writing skills, take part in music recording and production, and perform at events showcasing their achievements.

The Sandman Project stands for the belief that a child’s participation in music, whether by playing an instrument, singing, or by being an educated listener and fan, is a positive and socializing activity with life-long benefits. In a social climate where budgets for school arts programs have been reduced or eliminated, the Project seeks to offer children a fun and rewarding experience creating music.

The Project was founded in the memory of Mark Sandman, a Cambridge resident and internationally acclaimed performer and songwriter, best known for his work in Morphine.  We has recently taken a unique opportunity to expand its reach and functionality by designing and building a music studio and office in the newly renovated Somerville Armory Arts Center. The Project’s new facility includes practice rooms, a recording studio, and a performance stage.

The HI-N-DRY musical community, comprised of some of the finest artists in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, is the driving force behind the Project.  HI-N-DRY Recordings will be operating on-site, and will be donating a portion of all proceeds to the project.  HI-N-DRY members will manage and run the studio for the project’s benefit.

At present, our web site is still under construction. We are making an effort to present you with our entire spectrum of offerings as soon as possible.  We will be regularly featuring new music from a wide variety of artists,  as well as exclusive tracks from the Mark Sandman archives; music that you can download or stream, and which you won't find anywhere else.

In the meantime you can reach us at (617) 440 3991.  You can also contact us at our e-mail address: info@sandmanproject.comcastbiz.net
